The Story of the MOSO Bamboo

The seed of the Giant Moso Bamboo tree is so hard that it does not grow in the typical fashion when planted. While most trees regularly develop from the start, the Moso tree does not display any visible growth for the first four years. You must water and care for that seed during those years, never doubting the process and believing in "unseeable" growth. The seed is released into the world in the fifth year and begins to grow at a rate of up to 3 feet per day, reaching about 90 feet in just a month. At this stage, they claim you can "literally see bamboo growing." The proper root system developed and became strong enough to support such rapid, glorious growth during those first four years of nurturing. The seed would never reach its full potential if the person who planted it had stopped watering or caring for the soil at any point.
